In silent memory

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to our esteemed colleague Volker Curtius.

*September 18, 1987 † February 28, 2025

On January 1, 2024, Volker took over the technical purchasing for the research work of the Modellfabrik Papier and the development of the infrastructure for test facilities. Coming from the paper industry, where he worked for many years at the Düren-based company Schoellershammer on the paper machine in shifts, he knew industrial paper production inside out as a master papermaker. With him, we lose a dear colleague who has familiarized himself with the new tasks with great personal commitment and professional knowledge.

Volker did not let the blood cancer diagnosis discourage him. We admired him for his fighting spirit and his courage in getting the most out of every day of therapy. He loved music, was passionate about playing the guitar, and shortly before his illness, he had fulfilled a big dream and bought a motorcycle. We will miss his sense of humor, his spirit, and his heart for the team very much.

We will always honor his memory in our work. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the search for a matching stem cell donor for Volker and so generously responded to our appeals to register as a potential donor at DKMS, a non-profit scientific organization dedicated to saving the lives of patients with blood cancer.
