Modellfabrik Papier welcomes KANZAN Spezialpapiere GmbH as a new shareholder in the network. The OJI Group company, which specialises in speciality papers, is now joining Modellfabrik Papier. This further strengthens the research network’s international connections, technological profile and innovative capacity.
“With KANZAN’s entry, we are expanding the industrial expertise within the Modellfabrik Papier innovation network to include important perspectives for the development of sustainable paper solutions,” says MFP Managing Director Peter Bekaert. Speciality papers open up a wide range of innovation potential – from functional properties to efficient and sustainable production processes. The involvement of the Düren-based manufacturer thus underlines the Modellfabrik Papier’s commitment to closely integrating research, practical application and future-oriented topics within the sector.
At the same time, the new shareholder structure sends a strong signal for the research location. Modellfabrik Papier is consistently developing its role as a platform for collaboration between industry and science. The fact that KANZAN, a company of the OJI Group, is joining this environment demonstrates the attractiveness of the location and the relevance of the joint work for the future of paper production. “We are convinced of the innovative power of paper as a material and believe in its future viability,” says KANZAN Managing Director Andreas Euler. “Paper-making has a long tradition in Düren. It goes without saying that we are committed to paving the way for this tradition to have a sustainable, reliable future.”
KANZAN manufactures thermal papers, inkjet papers and other speciality papers. The company employs around 300 people and produces approximately 60,000 tonnes of paper annually. It supplies the converting industry across Europe. This includes printing companies and small-roll converters as well as laminate manufacturers for self-adhesive labels. As a result, KANZAN paper can be found in a wide variety of everyday products: in the form of self-adhesive labels, admission tickets, travel tickets, lottery receipts, bank statements and parking tickets.
With KANZAN, the Modellfabrik Papier gains a partner that combines industrial experience, technological expertise and an international network. This strengthens the joint work on sustainable paper solutions and underlines the Modellfabrik Papier’s commitment to driving forward innovations with concrete relevance for the industry at its Düren site.
