Office time:

Master Assistant (m/f/d) mechanical engineering, process engineering with focus on energy engineering- Promotion possible (100% position)

in the research area of innovative systems in aqueous media

Your mission is the identification of energy saving potentials and the development of technology carriers (prototypes) within the BMBF-funded project (Modellfabrik Papier research cluster) focussing on “Innovative systems in aqueous media”. You will work closely with experienced experts in an interdisciplinary and collaborative working environment at the interface between science and industry in the paper sector.

Your mission

Your tasks

  • Your expertise is needed to make the drying process of a moist paper web more efficient by identifying energy losses and deriving measures for optimisation
  • In the future, you will design test rigs taking into account physical laws from the disciplines of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer and fluid mechanics
  • You will work actively in multidisciplinary teams to exchange and discuss ideas and find the best solutions
  • In coordination with the team and the project and industry partners, you will research and procure individual parts, build modular test systems on a laboratory or pilot scale and carry out series of measurements
  • Based on the experimental results, you will continuously optimise the test systems and support the scale-up to achieve long-term energy savings in the dryer section of a paper machine
  • You have successfully completed a Master’s degree in mechanical or process engineering and specialise in energy technology
  • Ideally, you have experience in several of the following disciplines and would like to expand your knowledge in these areas: thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, flow simulation, computer-aided development, paper technology, automation technology
  • The topics of environmentally friendly processes and sustainability (in the paper industry) are important to you
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative team and not only develop innovative technology carriers together with your colleagues, but are also interested in continuous optimisation
  • You are enthusiastic about scientific work in the field of research and development
  • With your excellent communication skills in German and English, you can convey complex, scientific concepts precisely

Your profile

What we offer
