Master Assistant (m/f/d) mechanical engineering, measurement and control engineering, electrical engineering - Promotion possible (100% position)

in the research area of disruptive development for paper production with other fluids and with dry fibres

Your mission is to take on a key role within the BMBF-funded project (Modellfabrik Papier research cluster) focussing on “System Change in Fluid”. You will work closely with experienced experts in an interdisciplinary and collaborative working environment at the interface between science and industry in the paper sector.

Your tasks

  • You will actively work in multidisciplinary teams to exchange ideas, discuss and find the best solutions
  • You will support the team in developing the control and regulation of technology carriers for dry paper laying and paper consolidation, in close coordination with project partners
  • You will be responsible for planning and integrating the relevant measurement technology into the technology carriers and test systems
  • You will programme the corresponding software to control and regulate the systems
  • With the help of your controller, measurement data is automatically read out and saved
  • You support the next scaling stage with expertise in the required control and measurement technology
  • Based on the results of the experiments carried out, you will help to implement ways to optimise the processes.
  • You have successfully completed a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, measurement and control engineering, electrical engineering or a related subject area
  • The topics of environmentally friendly processes and sustainability (in the paper industry) are important to you
  • You have experience in the development of innovative solutions – ideally within research or industrial projects and multidisciplinary teams
  • You are familiar with the regulation and control of complex systems and ideally have already gained initial experience in this area
  • You would like to expand your knowledge in the planning and construction of experimental test benches through to pilot plants
  • You are interested in incorporating modern measurement methods into an innovative process and optimising it further
  • You are familiar with programming control programmes, such as LabVIEW, and can therefore develop and automate your own plant control system
  • With excellent communication skills, you can clearly convey complex scientific concepts

Location

The Modellfabrik Papier will be built on the site of the Innovation Quarter at the Düren train station. Until the completion of our new building in early 2025, our activities will take place at the Jülich Research Center. Further office space is currently located in the CO_SPACE.DN.
