Data Manager/IT Specialist (m/f/d) Data science, computer science, data management in the field of systemic integration

Full-time until July 2027

Your mission is to lead the collection, integration and management of scientific data across multiple projects and partners involved in the development of new technologies. As a data manager within the BMBF-funded project (Research Cluster Model Factory Paper) with a focus on “Systemic Integration”, you will ensure smooth data exchange, ensure data integrity and contribute to building a robust digital infrastructure that supports efficient research collaboration. Your expertise in IT systems and scientific data management is crucial to optimize data flow and improve accessibility for all stakeholders.

You will work closely with experienced professionals at the interface of science and the paper industry in an interdisciplinary and collaborative working environment.

Your mission

Your tasks

  • Your expertise is required for the development and maintenance of a centralized data management system for research collaboration
  • You collect, standardize and integrate data from various sources from scientific partners and internal teams
  • Ensure the integrity, security and accessibility of data in accordance with data management guidelines
  • Work closely with the various research teams to develop efficient workflows for data collection and processing
  • Implement tools and platforms for data visualization and analysis
  • Provide technical support and training to researchers on data management best practices
  • You will support the design of the required IT infrastructure for the new building in collaboration with an external IT service provider
  • You will actively work in multidisciplinary teams to share and discuss ideas and find the best solutions
  • You have a successfully completed Master’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems or a related field
  • You have experience in scientific data management, database systems and data integration
  • You have already demonstrated your ability to work independently and have taken responsibility for your (sub-)projects
  • You are familiar with security protocols and compliance standards
  • You are proficient in programming languages such as Python, R or SQL for data processing
  • You have experience with cloud-based data storage and collaborative platforms
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are able to work in a multidisciplinary environment and communicate effectively with researchers and technical teams
  • Experience in working with external partners from industry and academia is an advantage

  • The Modellfabrik Papier is subject to the prohibition of better employment. The salary structure at Modellfabrik Papier is based on the TV-L and is in the [13] range for this vacancy, subject to appropriate qualifications

Location

The Modellfabrik Papier will be built on the site of the Innovation Quarter at the Düren train station. Until the completion of our new building in early 2025, our activities will take place at the Jülich Research Center. Further office space is currently located in the CO_SPACE.DN.
