Postdoc / Engineer (m/f/d) process engineering, measurement and control engineering, energy engineering, enviromental engineering

in the field of systemic integration

Your mission is to bring together the research results and developments from upstream work packages of the BMBF-funded project (Modellfabrik Papier research cluster). To this end, you will build up a team of 3-4 people and lead the “Systemic Integration” area. Your specific role here is to set up new processes by supporting (validation) experiments and connecting test stands and technology carriers. Overall, you will act as a hub between science and industry in the paper sector and can look forward to an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.

Your mission

Your tasks

  • You will coordinate the main work package “Systemic Integration” (focus 4) within the above-mentioned BMBF-funded project and ensure the distribution and timely processing of sub-aspects
  • Together with your team, you will accompany the experimental trials and validation experiments on test benches and technology carriers within the upstream project focus areas 1-3
  • Transparent and regular exchange as well as efficient knowledge and research data management with colleagues at Modellfabrik Papier and the research partners are part of your daily tasks
  • You provide your assessment of the energy supply, measurement technology used and test plans, and help to generate and analyse meaningful data sets in order to make energy use and efficiency gains measurable
  • In cooperation with the consortium partners, the energy evaluation and classification of the energy efficiency of the research results is carried out in order to decisively advance the conceptualisation of technology carriers
  • Together with your team, you will accompany the construction and commissioning of technology carriers, support validation experiments and test operation in combination(s) with other technology carriers
  • You and your team will develop and validate simulation tools and, if necessary, your own technology carrier for the reuse and further use of e.g. (modified) fibres and/or novel additives
  • Based on research into the status quo and available (software) solutions, you will implement a method for life cycle assessment / life cycle analysis and apply it in compliance with applicable standards (creation of life cycle assessments and calculation of product carbon footprint)
  • You prepare the results achieved and present them in regular meetings with the project team or summarise them in reports
  • Together with your team, you evaluate the developed technology carriers with regard to the effort required for process engineering implementation/integration on an industrial scale (paper machine)
  • You have completed a doctorate or are an engineer (at least 3 years of professional experience) in the field of process engineering, measurement and control technology, environmental engineering or a related discipline
  • A holistic way of thinking characterises you and helps you to maintain an overview of research and development results within Modellfabrik Papier and its cooperation partners
  • You are motivated to drive new technologies, innovations and disruptive ideas and to create, evaluate and improve new processes
  • Your excellent communication skills and application-related knowledge in the areas of project management, process setup, process validation and improvement are required
  • You are passionate about environmentally friendly processes, energy efficiency and sustainability (in the paper industry)
  • You are familiar with methods for systematic test planning (design of experiments) and statistical evaluation
  • You have experience in the coordination of research projects and the supervision of students or first team members
  • Your teamwork and leadership skills enable you to lead a dedicated research team
  • You are characterised by your ability to strategically plan and implement research goals
