Our shareholders

The Modellfabrik Papier is an initiative of the paper industry. It unites paper manufacturers, suppliers and plant manufacturers who are working determinedly towards the climate targets for 2045 and driving change. The significant reduction of the energy required for paper production is not only a social obligation, but also an economic necessity. Energy efficiency and the conservation of resources are inextricably linked with securing the future of the industry. Our approach? The development of disruptive technologies in close collaboration with science. Through research to progress.

The Paperindustry at one table

What makes our innovation network so unusual is that it brings together a cross-section of the German paper industry at one table – from medium-sized companies to global market leaders. This is where technical know-how and comprehensive industry knowledge come together.

Driving progress together

Breakthrough technologies do not evolve in isolation. They emerge when companies and leading research institutions pool their expertise within a strong network, thereby expanding the scope for innovation. Market-ready innovations must address the key challenges of industrial transformation: energy demand and the use of raw materials, material flows and circular economy. This requires new technological solutions, new process logics and approaches that go beyond established methods and re-think processes.

The Modellfabrik Papier is therefore inviting further companies, from 2027 onwards, to contribute their expertise in order to help shape new technologies at an early stage and drive research consistently through to market readiness.
