Master Assistant (m/f/d)

paper engineering, (Chemical) process engineering, Energy engineering, Machineering in the field of innovative systems in aqueous media

Your mission is to take on a key role within the BMBF-funded project (research cluster Model Factory Paper) with the focus on “Innovative System in Aqueous Medium”. You will work closely with experienced experts in an interdisciplinary and collaborative working environment at the crossroads between science and industry in the paper sector.

Your mission

Your tasks

  • Your expertise is needed to develop and optimise new and innovative processes on a laboratory scale in order to achieve a higher primary energy yield.
  • Your core tasks include the independent planning, implementation and documentation of diverse and interdisciplinary experiments and laboratory analyses.
  • You will test various You will test various formulations and processes in stock preparation in order to obtain fibres with high binding capacity and low water retention capacity.
  • In the field of thermodynamic energetic optimisation, you will test novel concepts for mechanical dewatering, in the dryer section and alternative steam supply.
  • Based on the laboratory results, you will make an essential contribution to implementing the next scaling stage (pilot plant / technology carrier) on a pilot plant scale and carry out validation experiments.
  • You will independently develop and test control and regulation concepts to network the above-mentioned devices and embed them in the overall process.
  • You will use all available software applications in a modern, networked and efficient working and laboratory environment.
  • You will actively work in multidisciplinary teams to exchange and discuss ideas and find the best solutions.
  • You have successfully completed a Master’s degree in the field of paper engineering, (chemical) process engineering, energy technology, mechanical engineering or a related field of study.
  • You are interested in environmentally friendly processes and sustainability (in the paper industry)
  • You have experience in the development of innovative solutions – ideally within research or industrial projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • In your career so far, you have already worked in processes or with equipment to convert raw materials into finished products
  • Ideally, you have been specifically involved in scaling up processes at different scales
  • You have experience in dealing with process input and output parameters
  • You have already proven your independent way of working and taken responsibility for your (sub-)projects
  • You are familiar with analytical methods and the statistical evaluation of data
  • You can clearly communicate complex scientific concepts with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in working with external partners and the scientific community is an advantage
  • If there is interest in a doctorate, please indicate in the cover letter
